Food worth buying right now

1. Morrisons & Tesco both seem to be doing packets of chicken breast which is with no added water. Both are good and taste better than previous standard chicken.
They also come in 500g+ packs so you can actually use less as there is less water loss.

2. Home Bargains is stocking an Indian imported range, the Dal Makhani is really good for 49p, the lemon and cumin rice good and there is a Cholla Masala and one other. At present they seem to be out of Roti/chapatis though.

3. Parmesan that lasts - has to be Lidl. Although we get through a load of parmesan, Sophie loves the grater and it gets everywhere, the Lidl one keeps well in the fridge where others have started to mould quickly.

4. County Life butter deals everywhere at 2 for £1 which should get you through to August on date so worth a buy.

Any comments let me know or post :)

3 months in and lacking in vava voom

Three months down the line and now getting cabin fever in the house and having a mental block on dinners.

This week has been less than creative with the quiche and bolognese sauce being made last week.

  • Quiche Lorraine
  • Pasta bolognese
  • Egg fried rice with salt & pepper king prawns chicken & Pork
  • Murg Makhani (butter chicken

I was quite chuffed reading an article from a London restaurant that their butter chicken recipe and mine are almost identical, however they use cream and I use yoghurt which is a) more authentic and b) not as sweet.

Current suggestion for tonight is chicken, mushroom & bacon risotto - which will be fine if the wife remembers to buy some mushrooms today.

Shopping list after tonight: Arborio or other risotto rice and another block of parmesan from Lidl
At least I get to go to the butcher's van tomorrow which will help my carniverous tendencies.

Needing some ideas badly :(
